Mexican cuisine restaurants have a new avenue to indulge in their favorite fare-Calavera. This restaurant opened its doors to the Uptown residents in 2015 and has gained much popularity in a short span of time. The restaurant has a humble and rustic decor with wooden furniture, bricked walls, a beautiful bar counter topped with leather, hummingbird hangings andalebrijes (Oaxacan folk art figurines). Nice space, food and service was spotty. Umami mushrooms were terrible. Greasy and tasteless and Molé needed something more. Asked for salt. Never got it. Duck tacos were tasty but very greasy and served on these hard cold corn tortillas. Cochinita pibil was tasty and a good portion but came with 3 small tortillas. We asked for more. They charged us 3.50 for 4 more tortillas and one was torn.
Good food, good drinks, great atmosphere, wonderful staff.

The best Mezcal and BBQ ever
Not big portions, great taste in food. The chilaquiles are basically chips topped with meat, beans and sour cream... a no no, but over all good place.
A first time good experience! Good service and good food! The atmosphere was very good!!
