Cafe Luna - once great, now sadly has lost focus – Cafe Luna was the neighborhood Italian comfort food joint, at least that was my impression in years past. The decor is antiquated, the lighting (at dinner) is downright too dark, the service is Carl's Jr. quality, the music is that of LA Mexican radio and the food is confused! If you look at the supposed "HOMEMADE" menu for pastas and entrees, you would be surprised to find a whole Mexican section. Ridiculous right?!! Good Food, Good Variety - Poor Service – Cafe Luna has some really good dishes and a lot to choose from. Some are god and some are just average. A lot seem to be average dishes doused with sauce. However, overall, and for the price, the food is decent and there are some very tasty dishes. The bread and olive oil is fantastic as well. The big negative here is the service. Great place gone bad... – We have gone to Cafe Luna at least for the last 5 years. Until about a year ago, we were always extremely pleased with the quality of the food and the friendly, fast service. However, over the last year, we have now gone there twice. Both times were extremely disappointing. This was about the same time that the two owners stopped "managing" the restaurant on a day-to-day basis. great expectaion, left disappointed – I have passed by Cafe Luna for over 8 years now, and thought what the heck. we went in on a sunday, as was happy to see a dinner special. we ordered the eggplant parmaginia and the chicken marsalla and it came with soup or salad. The salad came out and the lettuce was wilted and had that purple color to them, the soup was fine. We could have ended up in the hospital! – we ordered penne with shrimp and scallops, mine with their normal source, and my husband's with marinara source only since he wanted to feed the penne to our one and half year old daughter, who is not allowed to eat shellfish yet by order of our pediatrician. When our dishes came, we proceeded to pick out the penne from my husband's dish and fed to our baby. The marinara sauce was a bit dense with solids in there. Horrible Place! – I just had the most horrible experience at Cafe Luna today. It took them at least 10 min. to take our drink order. Then another 10min to take our food order. 45min after our order was taken, we were still seating there waiting for our plates. The server kept assuring us our food was coming. Other customers who came AFTER us started getting their plates, not just one table but 4 other tables got their food while we were still seating there. The server was nowhere to be seen. Favorite Local Dining – Cafe Luna has wonderful food, a great wine list, and fabulous service. I have never been disappointed with this great place.
