The coffee is served Black or Au Lait. Au Lait means that it is mixed half and half with hot milk. Beignets are square French -style doughnuts, lavishly covered with powdered sugar. In 1988 Iced Coffee was introduced to the cafe. Soft drinks also made their debut that year.

Normally, I LOVE Cafe Du Monde but today I go through the drive thru in Cafe Du Monde in Mandeville with $3 worth of change I scraped up in my car. The lady watched me as I scrounged up the $2.98 because I had such a craving and then I asked if I could have an ice water - she says with a stupid smile “that’s .25” I said well can you fill my cup with water? She says “No sorry” and I questioned it again and she says “no sorry.” ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. I WANTED TO GIVE HER THE BAG BACK AND ASK FOR A REDUND IN PENNIEs!
