Really great food and service
Came in tonight with a large walk in party from a Fringe play (thankyou for fitting us in). A staff member offered to open the umbrellas at our tables for us (which seemed nice except they're not anchored in - which we didn't know). The breeze caught an umbrella and it smashed me in the head quite hard. Shattered my sunglasses (new and not cheap) and knocked me silly. Grabbed a window seat around 9am on Saturday and the espresso came out faster than most places manage even when they're empty. The almond croissant was warm all the way through, not just the top layer, which honestly is rare these days. Staff behind the counter knew half the regulars by name and still made time to explain the single origin options without rushing me. Small spot, no real parking lot to speak of, but worth circling the block for.
Used to really adore this place for how cozy/vibrant it was for lunch or a study spot. But honestly, The food this time was so shockingly horrible. The fries were unbelievably hard and flavorless, and the quinoa on the veggie dish was non edible and overall just awkward. We told the staff when she came back and the response was non existent, maybe cause her shift was about to be over idk. Really hoping this was a one off...
The service here was APPALLING! I do not know how this place has such a high rating? We paid $28 for a tiny charcuterie plate. The server didn’t tell us what the cheeses/‘eats were (they were “chef selection”). When I asked she seemed surprised that I would want to know what we were eating and said she would have to find out. She eventually came back and said vaguely what the cheeses were without pointing to them and didn’t bother with the meat. I gave up at that point.
