They could be a little more humane to their rodents – I had visited there on the intent to purchase a hamster. While I'm not really about screaming "animal cruelty" or some PETA fanatic (I actually find them way too extreme). I do think after visiting Buzz's they could do a little more for the hamsters, mice and rats they keep at the store. I'm not opposed to having rats for breeding, as they are mostly feeder rats for snakes or other reptiles. I do however, feel sad that they must be kept in really small cages. Quality Products, Ethical Owners – As a former newspaper reporter who covered animal shelters, I am extremely impressed with the ethical business practices at Buzz's Pet Center in Torrance (Carson and Vermont). The owners screen their sources (all of which are personally known to them) to ensure that no incoming pets are from puppy mills or similar places. Some people only do what they know to do – As a customer at Buzz's Pet Center I agree it can be a bit of a challenge when asking for advice on certain products or asking for suggestions for products. I have been a customer for 3 years, although, they probably won't know my name or face. But, never a problem with asking for advice on my pet or products.
Unfriendly – Very unfriendly. Unhelpful. The elderly man, perhaps the owner, just stared at me and my wife and barrelled passed us without saying a word. His assistant/worker walked past us and I said "Hi". She just looked at me expressionless and ignored me. Then my wife said "Hi" and she ignored her too. She begrudgingly answered one question in a loud rude tone of voice. That is when I decided to leave. Awful vibe in that place.
