I sent a bag full of clothing 6 weeks ago . Clothing included brand names, such a loft or J crew, and they replied today, 02/08, that they were unable to purchase any items. This is a scam and the items I sent were absolutely items they had on their list to purchase. It seems that this company has a recurring system where people send brand name clothing and they refuse to honor their word.

SCAM- sent a bag with 29 items (all brand names like AllSaints, Diesel, Nike & Gap) and was told after TWO months of waiting to hear back they were purchasing nothing and had donated all of my clothing which was well over $3k. I wasnt expecting alot- maybe $100 as i have sold to them before in person but this is ridiculous. Now no one will answer my messages.

Beware! Buffalo Exchange buy program is a scam. My husband dropped off 50 high end, new with tags or like new items for sale. Designer brands. Due to COVID he dropped off . First they could not locate my name in computer and then I had to reach out for an update only to learn ALL my items where donated. NEVER AGAIN! My items where stollen!

Business response:

Hi Cem, Thanks for letting us know about your experience - we're sorry to hear that it didn't go as expected. With the drop-off buying system, we did require sellers to agree in advance to our pricing and that any items we were unable to purchase would be donated. We understand that this was frustrating and have since reintroduced in-person selling. If you do choose to sell with us again, we hope we can show you a much better experience! Best, Jessica

SCAM! They took a big box full of my belongings. Many of which still had tags, are in season and ‘trendy’ but they claimed they can’t sell anything. I asked to pick up my belongings but the buyer became very defensive and aggressive, refusing to return anything valuable to me. It’s so obviously a scam. I would prefer to give to charity myself than to contribute to the plot of this unethical FOR PROFIT business. They lie in their replies to all these complaints. Dear Buffalo Exchange, don’t treat your sellers like they are id... read more

I sent over 15 items to buffalo exchange. Interestingly they only bought in 2 items and the total of the cash payout was $18. It costs $14 to return your items. I would guess they do this on purpose. Anyway, I opened my package of returns and there were only two t-shirts in it. So 11 or more items are missing including 2 Supreme t-shirts and a pair of adidas sneakers. I can only assume that the warehouse employees stole my items. I’ve had better experiences in the store but AVOID SELL BY MAIL they are scammers.

I agree with the people who are also criticizing the buffalo exchange clothes mail in program. As soon as I got my notification that they accepted one bag and one dress and were giving $7 I immediately google searched buffalo exchange scam. I shop there because I believe that no one needs to buy new clothes. I specifically chose clothes to send that I’ve seen there. I am sure that some of the clothes they didn’t buy will end up in their stores. And there’s no way to know. I am So disappointed. I will never be back.

I am extremely baffled and, excuse my language, pissed! Because of the current situation that we are affected at the moment (COVID-19), I lost my job and thought: "Hmm, maybe if I sell some clothes that I don't need anymore, I can get some extra much-needed cash." I went on, filled the bag with clothes that even I haven't worn yet, some from very nice brands, and how much did they pay me? 3 FREAKING DOLLARS. THREE! This is some bs and if I have known it would've been like this, I would've just kept my clothes and sell them s... read more

Don't "sell by mail" with the Buffalo Exchange because they are thieves. I sent a whole bag of quality clothes and they said they purchase one item out of all of it and put the rest in their donation $1 sale. If you can't go in person, go to a different thrift store that you can go in person to. I have a baby at home so I figured I would try this sell by mail service because it would be more convenient for me, well, they literally offered me $3 for the one item that they bought. I've sold plenty of clothes, I know this is no... read more

Hi ****** We're sorry to hear that your experience with our Sell By Mail program left you feeling like this. With Sell By Mail, we buy the same as we would in the store, making selections based on the styles that are currently selling quickly for us as well as condition. A lot of times, our customers are interested in pieces similar to what you would see in malls or department stores right now. We will definitely review with our Sell By Mail team, however, to make sure we're not being overly selective. For future reference,... read more
