ok for the masses – It's not the original buffalo exchange that was next door when it first opened in Houston, but you can still get some good stuff if your willing to dig to find it. I understand the staff is overworked, but they are sometimes a little too picky for their own good. Don't bother – I went with a trunk full of clothes, a week or so after Thanksgiving with alot of dressier name brand items + a Levi's vest with tags on it + several pairs of Calvin Klein jeans that were barely worn, and I browsed while my clothes waited in line for someone to look at hoping to be bought by Buffalo Exchange. They did not buy 1 item, they were rude when I wanted them back instead of letting them donate them (hey I want the tax write off, why give it to them). No thanks. – Okay, so I know that the high school kiddos love this place, but I consider Buffalo Exchange to be one of the biggest rip offs in Montrose. The prices are absurdly high for previously worn clothing, and the staff is rude and are of no help whatsoever! If they aren't there for customer service, then why are they there at all?
things to know before you go! – ok, as a former employee let me let you guys in on some selling tips. i have read many reviews from people who are mad at what they take. look through fashion magazines before you go. that is the style they are looking for. think trendy! if something is "pilly", stained, or smelly they will pass no matter what. premium denim is what they are looking for in terms of jeans. and try to remember not to take anything personally. they see tons of clothing items each day and will only buy what can be... read more
Some O.K Clothing, Only takes well Known Item Brands(even if they are in bad shape)!! – I went to this store took look for nice pieces, because I am a bargain shopper. This is a very overwhelming store, only go if you have a lot of time to look through mounds of clothes. I love this place! – They specialize in modern, trendy, teen-sheik casual wear at very reasonable prices. They often have gothic types working for the store, but it fits in the Montrose area. Dressing rooms are huge. There is tremendous selection but the racks are packed full of clothing. Each time I go there I find a gazillion things to try on and usually buy more than I need. At these prices you can afford to splurge. My daughter loves this place too!
Very rude! – I have always been disappointed every time I stop in Buffalo. The staff are very rude!!!! I just recently brought 4 bags full of expensive clothes I no longer wear. They gave me $22 for the very few things they wanted. I was astounded! Not only were they rude to me, but they clearly do not have good taste!
good shopping & selling – I live in Austin, but I always have to go to Buffalo whenever I'm in Houston. I find really great designer stuff, especially shoes. The prices are good, too!
Keep your quality items – I cleaned out a hell of a lotta clothes, including cool t-shirts and blue jean jackets. I also had a one-time worn bridesmaids dress only b/c their website said they needed bridesmaids dresses for Halloween costumes...the girl helping didn't take a SINGLE ITEM!! I had a box and four handfuls of hanging items. She said they needed "cheaper stuff", I couldn't believe it. In a way it's a slam to your ego but on the other hand it made me realize what great items I can take to a higher quality store.
