You would have a hard time finding anyone as friendly and willing to help you in a minutes notice as Bruce Elder and his associate Brian Rhodes. I have never met them in person but they are true car guys and I love them. I called them on the day before Thanksgiving around 1pm and asked them if they could do a pre-purchase inspection on a 1969 Camaro. Bruce would have done it himself but he already had a prearrangement and couldn't break his commitment. Brian selfishly volunteered to do it and by 7pm that night I had the full... read more
Fantastic tour, interesting stories... And I am not even a car enthusiast! You can take pictures and get close to the cars.
Bruce Elder knows more about cars than Hugh Hefner knows about cleavage. But he brings the same passion to his subjects as Hef does to his. If you want to see some rare examples of early automobile genius and beauty and learn some exceptional industrial history, visit Bruce Elder in Stanton, Virginia. He himself is a rare and valuable Stanton asset.
Bruce has an amazing collection and is just a great guy. The tour he gives is just a great history of some amazing vehicles. Well worth stopping in to see. And I'm not above accepting donations for a "new" car from here
Interesting tour spanning the earliest days of the automobile business in Virginia. Every car has a story and Bruce tells them with affection. Don't miss this if you are near Staunton.
Bruce was such an awesome guy! We came in from out of town and we're looking for cool places to visit when we found this place! Bruce stayed open later than usual to take us around the shop and teach us about all of the cars in his shop! The shop itself was quite a spectacle also! I definitely recommend it to all people to check out. "Car person" or not!
Bruce treats me like family. He is a straight shooter. What a great guy.
I met Bruce about 20 years ago when I purchased a 1957 Chevy Pickup that I still have and enjoy driving. I love visiting Staunton, seeing Bruce, his family, and his cars. He has taken a real interest in me and my family. He treats me like a family member rather than a customer which is very refreshing. Since we met, I have purchased two cars from Bruce. I have also sold my dad's 1936 Packard and 1940 lincoln Continental through Bruce. Bruce is a great source of knowledge on automotive history and history in general. I highly... read more
