If you need of a spine surgeon, you need look no further in NE Ohio. A very significant percentage of Dr. Brower's patients are fellow physicians and other health care professionals, which should tell you what you really need to know. Dr. Brower is never in a hurry to get into the operating room and is a strong proponent of conservative management before surgery. As someone in the know, I can state that Dr. Brower's surgical technique is very meticulous and at the leading edge of his field.
Terrible bedside manner which I had been forewarned about but since i heard he was a capable surgeon I went to him anyway. The procedure was fine but the outcome was not and I feel he does not like to be challenged in any way about his outcomes because he treated me even worse after I did that. No doctor should be so defensive and mean that he loses sight of the well being and condition of his patient. I found a better doctor and now I am okay.
On Monday, May 25 my life changed in a way I thought it never would. I had been experiencing dibilating back issues. I had been under the care of a chiropractor, NST, Physical Therapy had a spinal injection and rounds and rounds of steroid and pain medications. Finally I was referred to Dr Brower. I'm happy to report 1 week post-op my pain is gone and I'm able to walk, sleep, shower and drive. Dr Brower and his team really are the BEST!!!
If I could give no stars I would. I chose him knowing his bedside manner was poor but his skill was known to be good. In the end, his approach was so abusive, I doubt his skill mattered much. He's mean and rude, and shared my health info with people I didn't approve. I was stressed and depressed for months after spinal fusion. When he came in after surgery, he and his posse stood several feet from the bed, never came close, never touched me. It was bizarre. Run away. Choose a doc with empathy.
In 2000 Dr. Brower performed an anterior lumbar fusion on L3-4. I was pain free. He advised me to change jobs, as it was very hard on my body. I didn't and in 2008, he did an XLIF fusion on L4-5. I have since retired. I have occ. pain, which is controlled with Tramadol--no narcotics. I am also 30 lbs.overweight, which doesn't help my spine or any other joints. Dr. Brower has NO bedside manner. He is often blunt & will hurt your feelings. But, he's very skilled & the doctor you need in the O.R.
After experiencing significant and debilitating sciatica for nearly 10 years, I was recommended to Dr. Brower by my family doctor. Dr. Brower quickly and accurately diagnosed my problem being Spondylolisthesis after a consult (before I even had an X-Ray/MRI) in his office. Dr. Brower then recommended the XLIF procedure to fuse my L4-L5 and this was completed in May 2015. I have been 99% pain-free since August 2015 and I am now 100% fused 10 months-post op with no/miniscule nerve pain to date!
Minimal invasive back surgery. Walking the day after surgery. Back to work fourth day after surgery. Does not sugar coat diagnosis our options.
