Brother Jimmy's Bbq

4.1

About this business

Brother Jimmy's BBQ near the Pennsylvania station is a chain of four venues in New York city alone, along with other locations in Union Square, Upper East Side, Midtown elsewhere. A trademark BBQ joint, it is thronged by locals having a fun time with friends. The meat is succulent, juicy and fresh. It is crisp on the outside, perfectly brown and roasted just right. The bar has TV screens to catch the match. Order a Bucket O' Hot Wings and chomp away with some cold draft Budweiser or a Johnny Walker for added fun. The place g... read more

AND THE MANAGER SAVED MY BLACKBERRY! I have been here a few times and have always liked the BBQ and the service is very friendly and competent. It is crowded and loud but I feel it is worth it especially if you are in the right mood. I went there last week after a business trip in upstate Connecticut. I ate, had a couple of drinks, and then headed back to Brooklyn. Unfortunately, on the subway I realized I had left my device at the bar. By the time I got home, I had an e-mail from the manager Brian that he had my phone. What... read more

Tourist Friendly BBQ – My friend and I were seating promptly by girls who looked no older than 15-yrs and dressed as Daisy Duke. The atmosphere was pretty layed back, I didn't have to shout over dinner, which was nice for a change. Plopped amidst the Madison Square Garden complex (plus the all the tourists and NJ visitors; and the dull top-40 music playing) it was a little too commercial for me--akin to TGIF. The food came very quickly, I mean, lightning speed. Tasty too. Not Virgil's...but pretty good.

Good food, bad service – Beers are overpriced ($5.25 for a bottle of Coors Light). Our waitress was poor and gave an attitude when I pointed out how the price on the menu didn't match what was on the bill. If you can overlook that, the food is good.

good eats; good time – stopped in before a Garden event. pleasantly surprised at the relaxed atmosphere. having spent much time in the South, was quite satisfied with the quality of the BBQ. Service was friendly and prompt. Excellent bar selections - especially the variety of bourbons. would definitely return and will use Bro Jim's as a meeting place after work.

no food – Taste is subjective but there is no discussion on the absolute worst service I have ever experienced. After being told that the wait was "no more than a half hour" 4 of us had a few drinks at the bar. We checked on the wait for the table 2X in the next 50 min. After 1 hour an answer became imperative as our concert at the Garden was rapidly approaching, the hostess than asked "did we really want to eat"? After answering the question with an incredulous "yes" we were told that there were a lot of reservations and we... read more

sad excuse – The first and last time I went to this place was on a friday afternoon at about 1:30. After being told there was a wait, l left and came back 6 minutes later and was then immediately seated, apparently more than half of the upstairs had left in those 6 minutes. My friend and I, who were absolutely starving, waited 25 minutes for a waitress to come to our table, all the meanwhile watching other customers who had arrived after us being served. Finally one waitress walked by, trying to avoid us, and i called her ov... read more

Best pulled pork sandwich in the city!! – I work in the area and I'm so happy to have a great place to go for lunch and happy hour! They have great drinks (the carolina cooler especially!) and great food. I had a pulled pork sandwich with macaroni and cheese and both were great! Better than anywhere else Ive been in the city. I will definitely be visiting this place again. The people that worked there were friendly and they played good music. bar was pretty packed after work so get there early!

Editorial Review – The barbecue chain expands once more, temping slim Chelsea waistlines with its wet and dry ribs.
