I want to detail the horrible lack of communication my mom and I have experienced since scheduling her cataracts surgery. We saw Dr. Brooks on Aug 5th and the appointment went great. We scheduled my mom to have surgery on the Aug 27th and September 3rd. Of course we wanted earlier days but we were told this was the EARLIEST she could receive surgery. I was referred to this location 3 years ago. For 36 consecutive months, I have reached out via phone calls, voicemails, emails, and messages with almost no response. On the two rare occasions I managed to get through, I was told they “need more time to confirm the referral,” despite the necessary information from my referring practice having been provided for years. Horribly handled financial aspect. They charged me $8184 of which Medicare and BCBS paid $2333.94. they said Medicare pays only $100. When I spoke to Accounting, she claims the upgraded Toric lenses cost the $8184! Also stating they knew ahead of time what insurance would pay. So why was I told $100? Why wasn't the total amount Medicare & BSBS paid deducted? They also totally disregarded the billable Plan Allowance amounts. Deceptive practices. Had my 1st appointment here today. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. The techs that did my work up exam Mariah and Austin. These 2 did a great job explaining everything they were doing and what it was for. Thanks Brooks Eye Associates for a great experience.
