We spent 1.5 months working with them to move my father there for care. He is a Medicaid recipient and we were told he could move in and use Medicaid right away. They then completely changed their tune and said it would be $7,000/month for 18 months before we could switch to Medicaid. I left Brookdale for several reasons but the main one being the lack of effective management, they lack respect, care and empathy not only for their employees but residents and their families. It was a hard decision for me to leave the residents and staff, but it came down to safety and the total lack of concern showed by management. Very sad that this business of caring fails residents and staff in so many ways!
RecommendedIf anyone ever has any concerns about the care at Brookdale or any facility in the state of Washington, you can go to the State website and read investigations into any complaints, and also the last state survey. Everything is transparent and nothing is hidden. You can read how many pressure sores there are, and a lot more.
Today is my last day at Brookdale Olympia West. I am leaving with a heavy heart. I have never worked with a more loving and compassionate group of people. I will miss all of my residents and coworkers.
just quit working there today cause the horrible care given on a constant basis w no consequences by the executive director Marni Burgess . alot of neglect and abuse happen and it is just dismissed and turned around , I have seen residents property be thrown away, people left in their urine for shifts at a time cause people receive little training as well as don't care. staff sleep at night so no meds or care get given at times it breaks my heart and I will do anything to make the community aware!!!
