This community is warm and friendly. The residents are happy and engaged and treated like family!!
In the past year we have seen some amazing changes occur at Brookdale. As someone stated earlier Mr. Randy Stelly has done a great job in assembling his team. The food here has definitely improved. Can't say enough good things about how much the activities and resident engagement has improved. But most importantly the staff's care and love they have for the residents is real. In January of 2016 I wrote a post that was very negative regarding the Brookdale buy out of Emeritus. And I don't regret posting it, we as family members went through a lot of worry about the care of our loved ones. In December of 2016 a true miracle took place. Mr Randy Stelly took over as director and he has put the right kind of staff in place. This man knows what he's doing!! My mother has been living here since March when her dementia progressed to the point that it was unsafe for her to live alone. I reviewed every assisted living facility in Lake Charles thoroughly and though they all seemed adequate, Brookdale stood out. Since having her there, the staff has gone above and beyond to make her feel welcome, as well as or family. She has recently been diagnosed with singles.
