My father checked into the Brookdale Galleria rehabilitation center @ 2929 Post Oak Blvd, Houston TX 77056 on 01/09/2018 to receive the following treatment: Physical therapy (stroke patient), speech therapy, antibiotic treatment Ampicillin for his Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), and antibiotics for a heart infection for 6 weeks through a PIC line. Do not bring your loved one here for skilled nursing. This facility treated my paraplegic mother terribly, left her vulnerable and exposed without access to her call button, did not call an ambulance for her when she was noticeably deteriorating and ruined her quality of life at the end, hastening her death. Staff is seriously uneducated and most of them failed to show up for work on one day. Doctors are non-existent on the weekend and the on-call doctors are useless. Absolutely heinous treatment. Keeping patients clean is a part of good healthcare. Here it is Sunday and it's been Thursday since my mother had a bath/shower. This place is very short staffed and my complaint will not stop with this FB post. LVN's are great. Not enough CNA's. One of the LVN's just told my mother that she would give her a bath after she completes her dinner. Nice of her. But, seems like the Licensed person in charge on Saturday should have made sure tasks were completed.
It's been an absolutely wonderful experience. Everyone has been very attentive to my needs in every respect. I've been here for 3 weeks ... mobile by walker and wheelchair only. Tomorrow I will be discharged to 4 weeks of home care. I thank God for the Brookdale staff, in Jesus name ... I will return for a visit when my injury heals and able to walk on my own. Beware! Only patients who are relatively self-sufficient, without complex medical issues, who require only simple nursing care should consider this facility. Patients with more acute needs should look elsewhere. This is written on the basis of my husband's two-week stay before transferring elsewhere.
