A brainchild of chef Tom Foley and his wife, Geri, Broadway Cellars opened its doors in 2006. Bourbon Glazed Atlantic Salmon, Root Vegetable Shepherd's Pie, Broadway special burgers and Broadway Chopped Salad top the menu here. Excellent brunch – First of all--they serve brunch until late on Sunday, and they have $10 bottomless mimosas. Next, they have great brunch items, like a ham & brie sandwich on brioche toast with Granny Smith apples, and various decadent version of eggs bendict, inluding over crab cakes. Great coffee, relaxed but good service.

New Chicago favorite – In Chicago on business, looking for a nice place other that the high dollar/high end restaurants in the loop. Found this place on the web. Took the "L" to the Thorndale stop, then short walk to the restaurant. The restaurant was a cozy neighborhood bistro. The food was wonderful, well proportioned and reasonably priced. The wine list was extensive covering several new varietals. Met the owner "Tom", who greeted us personally. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, suggesting excellent wine... read more

Great Potential – (The place has only been open 5 months, so don't put too much weight on the following review.) I live nearby, so I've been to BC 7 or 8 times since they opened. The atmosphere is cozy, the waitstaff is friendly, and there is great potential (I really hope they make it because it's nice to have an affordable bistro type restaurant in Edgewater), but they really need to step the food up a notch. I would rather see a more mundane menu done well then to be disappointed by dishes that sound wonderful, but fail t... read more

Cozy Wine Bar – My husband and I visited Broadway Cellars recently on a Friday night. We did not have a reservation, but the hostess was extremely friendly and we only waited 5-10 mins for a table. The atmosphere was very cozy and definitely felt wine cellar-esque. The food was great but the waiter was somewhat rude and standoffish, especially when we didn't want to order an appetizer he suggested. I enjoyed the food and wine, so I would give this place another chance and hopefully get a better waiter next time!

Great atmosphere, great service and excellent food/wine! – This was the third time that I met up with friends from the city at Broadway Cellars. I live in the Northwest Suburbs and the drive has been worth it each time! I have had the Nosh Plate and the Mussels. The Nosh is great to share and the Mussels are velvety. We have tried numerous entrees and shared them all. Everyone of them have been delicious. We literally rolled out of the restaurant after the incredible desserts. I'm not too, too knowledgeable with the many win... read more

Mediocre food and bad service – We had high expectations for this restaurant and always look forward to supporting local businesses but were very disappointed both in thequality of food and in the level of service. We were seated at one of the high side tables until our table became available, but after appetizers came and went as well as several glasses of wine. we had to remind the staff (who were busy socializing with each other and the guests they knew) that we were still waiting for a regular table. They had obviously f... read more

Great Date Place! – We arrived on a Friday night without a reservation, and were seated promptly. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, and most of the tables were filled. We ordered wine flights and everything was tasty. We ordered the duck lasagne and were not disappointed. The prices are all reasonable and we highly suggest trying it.

The little restaurant that can't quite – What a great idea -- and obviously a family affair. It's just too bad that the food isn't all that good. Of the 4 entrees at our table, all had problems. The duck lasagna I'd read so much about was a mushy mess--honestly, I couldn't find the pasta. The roasted chicken was seriously undercooked -- and so was the burger. We left with the feeling that the kitchen's good intentions weren't enough, and that this place would do better to focus on just a few things until they get them right.... read more

Diamond in the rough? – My fiance and I found this place on citysearch searching for a good glass of wine. Her first reaction was that she didn't want to go to that neighborhood. It turns out the area is more on the 'up and coming' side than we expected. Parking was difficult because this restaurant was bustling a with near capacity crowd (although we called a half hour ahead and did not have to wait). The food was sensational, the service very friendly and knowledegable, and the atmosphere was warm, kinetic, urban and frien... read more
