I’ve loved dinner at Breakaway at Briar Chapel for a while, however, it appears they’ve lost their long- term chef and the food has suffered! I’m writing about one dish in particular, which I’ve ordered twice recently and have been seriously disappointed with both times. I stopped here for a latte and the coffee was great! And the staff was very friendly. Lots of good seating. Also outdoor seating
I’ve been coming to this cafe occasionally for about five years, so I was disappointed by how my most recent visit was handled. I ordered the lunch burrito, as I have in the past, along with coffee and a Coke. When it arrived, I noticed it didn’t have chicken. I politely asked whether chicken was supposed to be included because I remembered the burrito having chicken before or at least being asked whether I wanted to add it. Salmon egg Benedict had a hard yellow center instead runny yolk. Plus the English muffin it was on was hard and way over toasted. Hollindase sauce was skimpy. Chorizo scramble had way overcooked eggs and was not a good recipe at all. Ate two bites of scramble. Coffee was the only great thing. Atmosphere and service was good. Overall we have much better places to go eat. Sending back is not an option for so many problems. The chef and kitchen are responsible for quality control in any great restaurant...not the customer.
