What exactly is a combination boiler system? This is a type of boiler system that provides central heating plus hot water without requiring a separate water storage tank. Many of the most efficient, newer types of boiler systems are combination boilers.

What are the three main types of condensing boilers? Combination boilers, sealed system boilers, and open vent boilers. The best type of boiler for your heating needs will depend on space and size considerations, energy characteristics, and necessary uses.

Firetube boilers feature a multistage process: In the first pass the burner fire heats the large furnace pipe; in the second it returns through smaller tubes as hot gases. Some boilers repeat this process three or four times to maximize heat output.

With modern boiler systems, “modulation” is a term used to describe the ability of a boiler to fire at varying rates. This ability enables the boiler to run longer (with fewer on and off cycles) at lower fire rates for improved efficiency with zero sacrifice in comfort.

Boiler safety valves need to be periodically tested to make sure they are functioning properly. We will inspect all valves and replace any that are leaking or not working properly.

A condensing boiler employs modern technology to get the most fuel efficiency for either a conventional or combination system. Condensing boilers are designed so that returning cooler water from the radiator is passed directly though a secondary heat exchanger, where it is warmed by hot flue gases. This warm water is then returned to the radiators.

Servicing your boiler regularly will ensure that it is running at peak efficiency, but it is also a safety issue as well. Periodic boiler inspections can also help detect the escape of potentially lethal carbon monoxide.
