The past two times I have gone to this restaurant they have attempted to cheat us out of money. The first time, they charged my boyfriends credit card for twice the amount that they were supposed to. We caught it on his credit card statement and complained to the manager. They did refund us the money, so we figured it was an honest mistake. I was there again last night for dinner and the bill was $69.20 I paid $60 cash and they were to put the rest on the credit card, which would have been $9.20. The best authentic Mexican restaurant in Milwaukee! – We found out about Botanas when it first opened because a Mexican-American frien recommended it. At that time it was a tiny restaurant and always packed. Business has been so good that the restaurant has expanded several time and is still packed. The bustling atmosphere excudes pride and energy. Avoid – Unimpressed. I would rather go to Taco Bell which I haven't gone to since college. Maybe they should revisit their menu and hire new people that will provide service. The other couple we went with was so embarrassed about their choice of restaurants. It was our first time there.
Great environment, great service, great food – The environment - from the mural on the wall, to the tables and the chairs, to the ambient music - gives this restaurant a very authentic feel. Although I was already on a short vacation, stepping into the restaurant made me feel so much more relaxed - as if I were in a whole different country. Service was exceptionally quick. Our orders came quickly, and were tasty, but not exactly something worth raving about. I enjoyed the ambiance more than anything.
Best Value for your Dollar – Jaime....i just love your resturant...service food all great....and its fun to watch you and your wife get smashed at the bar! I live in the neighborhood and try to come monthly...its great to see you do well. Id encourage those who are coming to the Latin Quarter for the first time....Botana's and/or La Perla are the places to go.
pretty cheap and good – better than average mexican, a little bit dirtier than i would have hoped a bit . Liked the chips service
Botanas has changed - not for the better! – Stopped for dinner the other night about nine. Waitstaff said they were closing early, but the manager said they would serve us as there were other patrons in the restaurant, so we stayed. Ordered drinks and fajitas.
