Good homebrewed beer – I've gone here several times for lunch with folks from out of town. It's near where I live so that's our primary reason for going there. The beer selection is good and they have a lot of original homebrewed beer. The food is so-so. I'd recommend the pizza and quesadillas but not the burgers. Service has been ok, but not great. At least the food comes out quickly. This seems like a good place to watch the game, but not so much for a sit-down meal.
Ugh! – I was absolutely horrified by the Fenway location. While we were eating dinner, they were cleaning dust out of the AC vent in the ceiling by hitting it with a broom and letting it rain down right where food was coming out of the kitchen. When we mentioned to the waitress that we thought it was disgusting, she sent the manager over (who was the one doing the dusting) who basically told us to shut it, that they were taking "all precautions" and then went back to hitting the vent and raining dust over the food coming out... read more
One of my favorite bars in the city – This place on their rotating menu has such a wide variety of beers, from fruit flavors like blueberry and watermelon to Fenway-themed brews. This is definitely one place to order a beer sampler. The menu of classic American ballpark dishes is just as tasty (the nachos are my favorites), but come hungry if you plan to order. Portion sizes are HUGE here. Only downside is that there are often long lines if you want a table and parking is hard to come by on game days and weekend nights.
Does not live up to its reputation – The last time I went to Beer Works, I was mildly disappointed. The beer was good, but two different times during the night I had to wait for my beer while the keg was changed. Sure, it happens, but twice in 3 hours?! The service was, well, pretty bad. But on my most recent visit, there was not a positive thing to be said. It had the feel of a trendy college "sausage" bar. From the moment I walked in the bar, I got the feeling that I was obligated to love the place on the name alone. The b... read more
it works! – typical bar food but what they advertise is their brews. people seem to like very much the little fruit pieces (watermelon, blueberries) that's found floating around IN the beer. great place to hang, but it gets very crowded during game days since it's right across from fenway park. :)
Arrogant Unprofessional Staff – Last weekend, I went to beerworks with 4 fellow friends. We got there around 11:45PM and ordered our first drinks of the night. We were on our second beer when last call came. We had at most half a beer left so we decided to order a final round since it wasnt closing for about 40 more minutes. We were allowed to purchase the beer and brought it to our table. 10 minutes later, a waiter came over and tried to rip the beers from our hands, claiming a false state law (my friend is a lawyer) forbid... read more
Awesome Fenway Resturant – This is my restaurant of choice before heading to a Red Sox game or if my family comes up to Boston for a visit. I've been here about seven or eight times, and I've been satisfied after every meal. They have a substantial menu, filled with excellent American food (BBQ, Cajun, Home Cooked, etc) and even some foreign favorites, such as pasta and teriyaki. The burgers are out of this world and the baby back ribs are equally as delicious. Throw in a basket of gravy fries and some boneless buffalo wings... read more
Will not serve homosexuals – I've been to Beer Works several times, and each time, even though they were slow, the food was worth it. However, this time, I went with a party which included homosexuals. Two women ended up kissing while our waiter took our order, and he walked away in disgust - and we were refused service! "JB" the manager refused to give his full name and refused to give us the server's name. When we said "that's F-ing ridiculous," we were told we had to leave. 2 CLEAR Constitutional rights violated. There's ... read more
Great Beer and Good Food – I love the burgers here, the meat patties are good quality. The Fish sandwich is also really good. Pasta and other entree items are not as good, but hey, its beer joint!
