RecommendedIf you are thinking about having any kind of bone surgery done, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Robert Schaefer. He did my Total Knee Replacement on Monday, was released 3 hrs after surgery. Today is Thursday..no longer need the walker or cane or hi rise t. seat. Pain is now minimal and controlled with Tylenol 500mg. I can walk with the new knee, no problem. Big shout out to Nancy Bradley and the team at the Bone and Joint Institute at Borgess. Had a referral that needed to get set up with a appointment, and they were more than accommodating. Great staff and attention to detail are what keeps me referring there time and again. I know from both personal and professional experience that they have some of the best orthopedic surgeons in Southwest Michigan, and when you couple that with exceptional customer service, it makes for satisfied patients and referring providers! Kudos!
was not impressed. I brought my wife in because she broke her ankle and the doctor was really rude to her. I asked for FMLA so I could help my wife get to appointments and so on because she can't drive with a broken ankle. The doctor wouldn't give it to me because we can get help from friends, family and neighbors. As if that wasn't enough to make me decide this is our last experience with them, they gave my wife the wrong size boot. They are not interested in helping with your pain. Just had an appointment with Dr. Uggen who was in a hurry and spent less than 3 mins with me and would not let me express my concerns— I will never come back to the docs here
Dr Uggen isn’t interested in helping you if you are not thin and a “Best case scenario” so you should not waste your time here.. you also can not get your medical records released from them even when the new docs office has also requested .... I have been calling for weeks to get my records released to a different hospital because I cannot schedule a new docs visit until I have my medical records from here.. so I am just waiting in pain! you only get an answering machine when you call records office and no one calls back.. n... read more

receptionist is very rude and demeans people when she talks to them. Don't be late they will turn you away no matter how far away you drive from.
Words cannot express how pleased I’ve been with the team at Borgess Orthopedics. My husband had surgery with Dr. Uggen in December 2015 for a severed bicep, and Dr. Jastifer fixed my broken fibula in April 2017 (and removed some hardware this past week). Everyone in the office, from the gals at the check-in desk to the nurses and x-ray technicians has been phenomenal! Always smiling and eager to assist, I’ve never left that office with unanswered questions or feeling like I didn’t get the best possible care.
