This is by far my favorite lunch spot in Mandalay Bay. The food is clean and fresh and incredibly tasty. I was there yesterday between 12-1 and ordered plantain empanadas and guacamole. As well as a regular and strawberry mojito. They were very busy with a hair convention that was in the hotel but still delivered timely, friendly service!! I come here every 2 years for that convention and eat at The Border Grill EVERY DAY for lunch and I have NEVER been dissapointed. Not once. It was horrible!!! From food to service!!! There menu was so limited. They came out twice over a span of an hour to say our food was coming out there was mix up in the kitchen and the kitchen was backed up. Considering what we ordered was not that complex and should have not taken that long. We should have just left. By the time the food came out it was cold and one of the things we ordered was wrong. My husband and I come here each year prior to an annual convention. We are never disappointed. Carnitas tacos are amazing! We love the salsas and better yet we each like a different one so more for the both of us!
The Border Brunch is very good and the green corn tamales are excellent (sweet, rich, and almost velvety). My only two complaints: 1 - I wish they put more cornmeal bartered oysters on their oyster taco (there is only 1); and 2 - the breakfast fries were not what I expected - the beer braised short rib tasted more like a pulled beef (there was none of the richness and carmilization I would expected from a braised short rib) and I felt the fries were underdone.
