The best healthy salads The little cafe on the top floor of Antioch University has enchanted me with there all natural food offerings and the friendliest environment in town. Carmen the chef and Dominic the English Butler at the register and there efficient staff are more than refreshing.

Great New Venue for Excellent Food My wife & her sister went to this place for lunch today and came back thrilled with the experience. My wife had the Pickled Beets which were perfectly accompanied with Feta Cheese, Klamata Olives crisp lettuce and a smooth Aioli dressing. Her sister had the Chicken Salad featuring Fresh Peas, crisp lettuce, Yogurt Chive with tasty parsley dressing. Both of these ladies were impressed with the food, quality, portions and friendliness of the staff. They sat on the 2nd floor open air patio which was one of the coolest places in town during the current heat wave as ocean breezes kept the temperature at least 10 degrees below the street level temps. Cute place with a limited; but very uniquely and well executed menu. My turn next week.

Cute, Small Cafe Bookends Café is a darling little spot in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara. Their location upstairs along Anacapa is very well arranged with lots of patio dining area available. Their menu is small, but tasty. On this most recent visit I tried the Brisket Banh Mi. It was a little bit on the small side, but the flavor was terrific. It's a simple place, so there isn't much to report as far as wait-staff or service goes, but their employees were certainly friendly enough. I'll definitely be back for slow lunches with a novel. Great lunch spot.

Great Lunch Menu This one+ year old place is a wonderful addition to the restaurant scene in SB. Varied menu of sandwiches and salads, all very creative. I had a business lunch here and opted for lighter fare with the 1/2 sandwich & salad combo. The sandwich was a brisket Ba Mih Viet Nam style and a salad of Israeli cuscus with bacon pieces and herbs. We ate on their spacious patio in a sunny SB day. Although this restaurant is located right downtown it is hidden away on the second floor of the building occupied by Antioch University and other occupants. However, this is not a school cafeteria by any means. It has no affiliation with the university. The upstairs location provides nice views of SB architecture as well as a reprieve from the hustle & noise of the street. If you are looking for a quiet, sunny place to enjoy some creative offerings for breakfast & lunch, this is the place!

JUST on the merits of pure joy, enthusiasm, & friendliness NOT TO MENTION the VERY important ingredient of attention to detail; cleanliness; sunlight; and the owners serving what they EAT... The BOOK ENDS CAFE is a must SEE, EAT, & come back with friends...
