be prepared for a long lunch – Overrated at best for lunch. We were seated promptly, but service was almost non-existent after that. The server didn't even bother telling us the daily specials. Service was extremely slow considering that the lunch menu consists of soup, salad, and sandwiches. It took 20 minutes just to get a box and the check, and the lunch rush was over by then. Salad was unusually salty.

Loved It – Visiting from Manhattan, we stumbled upon Bocadillos and had an amazing time! Food was delicious - I've been to Spain and was so excited to taste authentic tapas - serrano ham, shrimp with garlic and octopus were standouts. There's a great selection of Spanish wines and we enjoyed the lively atmosphere. Service is so-so but then you're not paying 5-star prices. Would go back every time I'm in town!

Great lamb bocadillos! – We thought this place was great, even with two small children. We were there around noon on Thursday and got seated straight away. We had the lamb bocadillos, really tasty, calamari (generous portion) and I would highly recommend the warm chocolate cake for dessert. The wait staff were wonderful, we'll be back!!

Rude hostess w/snarky comments – I had heard how great the place was from a number of friends. I had some out of town visitors so I thought it would be fun to try. I called ahead they said no problem it would be a 20 minute wait. We get there, the wait is 45 minutest with no place for us to stand out of the rain. My friend was yelled at for going past the hostess looking for us. They don't have a full liquor license. The place was really loud and my guests starting to get uncomfortable. We informed the hostess we wouldn't be... read more

great place for authentic tapas! – their shrips with garlic are out of this world! ambiance is great, and the place was not too crowded on Thursday night. i would recommend it, although it's not a cheap eat. interesting drinks too - sake with tomato/cucumber is strangely good....

Delicious lamb burger! – Initially I was anxious about eating here because of some of the bad reviews on citysearch. But I had a good lunch experience here. Service and food were good. The lamb burger was juicy, cooked to medium doneness, and perfect! My co-workers also liked their smoked salmon & roast beef sandwiches. One item I would not recommend is the catalan sausage sandwich. The sausage was ordinary and not worth the price, and its hard ciabatta bread is probably the tough bread bun another reviewer wrote about. Alth... read more

Food is bad. Service is worse. – Never mind the food which is mediocre and way over priced, the inexperienced and indifferent staff will make your dining experience a nightmare. You will regret taking friends here or going here on a date. Good luck elsewhere.

Top-notch tapas make a scene on the southern edge of North Beach. – At the entrance, a visible row of wine bottles is encased in the floor, while high tables with stools line one wall, and an enormous communal table sits in the middle of the room. Gerald Hirigoyen, the mastermind behind Piperade, puts his spin on classic Spanish tapas. For lunch, the eponymous bocadillos, little sandwiches, come in multiple permutations, like Catalan sausage and juicy lamb burger. As satisfying as lunch may be, dinner is where the menu shine... read more

Worst Meal Ever – I don't know if these people went to the same place I did, but tapas is not stale sandwiches with breads that are hard as rocks and meat that went bad. I am a foodie and I am particular about food, but a 5 year olds can buy better ingredients and make better sandwiches with both hands tied behind their backs. Ambiance was excellent and the service was okay, DO NOT GO HERE FOR FOOD!
