Questionable Billing Practices Medical staff was good but watch your pocket book. They use a collection agent with threatening letters as soon as insurance has paid without even the courtesy of a phone call.
Good experience all around Upon looking up Blue Ridge Surgery Center and finding the reviews here, I was very nervous about having my shoulder surgery there. I'm glad I went ahead (was thinking about asking my ortho to reschedule and have it done at Wake Med). When I got there I checked in at the front desk which consisted of presenting my insurance card and driver's license for copying and signing forms. Would never go there again I have worked in healthcare for over 20 years and would NEVER use this center again. The nurse conducting my pre-op assessment was interrupted five times. Instead of telling the person interrupting her that she was with a patient, she got up and LEFT me each time. I was "prepped" 30 minutes prior to surgery. This consisted of a woman washing my surgical site (knee) with betadine and taping a surgical drape on it. Of course, as soon as I stood up the drape fell to the floor. unorganized and neglectful I can not recommmend this center for surgery. I do want to say that the recovery room nurses were amazing..once I got their attention. I suffer panic attacks and was clear during every conversation with the center that needles trigger a panic attack, and mine are not mild. They 1st assured me that they would give me gas before the IV to sedate me..then called to say the didn't do that with adults. Then said they'd give me valium as soon as I got there and that would help. I was mentally prepared an... read more
quick out patient surgery center I was very impressed with this out patient surgery center. The staff was super friendly and helpful. the registration process was fairly simple and quick. The wait was very short in all aspects. The recovery area for children was very nice. and we were able to leave fairly quickly after the surgery. The nurses i dealt with in the pedatrics area were all super.
Might be a great place for children, nightmare for adults I did not have a good experience with Blue Ridge. The waiting area was shabby and uncomfortable. There was no light in the single stall women's bathroom. The morning I had out patient surgery they had a number of surgeries going on with child patients. The system they use to prep you in the recovery area is seriously flawed. You are there with children coming out of recovery. great staff and more convienient than out patient hospital I had to have three epidural shots. The shots were scheduled about three weeks apart. The billing office calls the day before to let you know how much you need to pay prior to your surgery. The nurses and staff were friendly and answered all questions. They called the next business day to check on me. I would highly recommend this center for minor procedures.
