Mexican eateries are known for their casual and no-frills approach to dining and drinking, and the Blue Agave Club on the Main Street in Pleasanton is no different. Named after the tree from which tequila is extracted, the restaurant serves delightful delicacies like enchiladas, tortillas, tacos and quesadillas. Also worth trying are the variety of burritos and regional specialties like enjococado and Chile Nuevo Colorado. Paired with variety of beverages like tequilas, and non-alcoholic drinks, you are in for a great time.

Excellent Food and Service, for a resonable rate – The recipes are meticulously created by the owner/chef Alejandro. He specializes in creative, savory sauces. We enjoyed the salmon and filet, which were absolutley on point. Alejandro, and his warm welcoming family, seem genuinely concerned with assuring that everyone has a pleasant experience. This is to me the ultimate sit-down Mexican food establishment because the recipes are extremely tasty, not greasy, and most importantly a good value. Highly recommended!
Great margaritas, excellent service, beautiful outdoor seating – This place is upscale mexican - not your run-of-the-mill, covered in sauce to cover up the taste places you see all over suburbs. Service is great, guacamole and margs are outstanding, and the ambiance is very nice. I have been here for romantic dinners, drinks with colleagues, large work dinners and brunch with friends. Always great food. Try the filet or the special chicken dish (100 year-old reciped). The tequilla list is enormous and the choices for margari... read more
Don't look for Chalupas here...good, authentic Mexican – We had a nice meal and the food was upscale and tasty...I wasn't concerned about a low spice volume since that is more of a personal taste anyway. The service got a "B" as the waiter took awhile to get to us and had to get off his cell phone to take our order (I couldn't believe it when he showed up talking on it!) I hope the water/food kid got most of the tip since he did most of the work.
Overpriced, unpderspiced – My wife and I went to the Blue Agave Club on the strength of a recommendation from a local magazine; I want the author to pay me back for my meal. My wife's combination -- skirt steak, a chile relleno and enchilada was a huge disappointment. She said the steak was tough and stringy, and the chile relleno was one of the worst she'd ever had; even Chevy's was better. My pork tenderloin (suggested by the waiter), wrapped around spinach and pine nuts, was completely bland, save for the charred meat. In... read more
Viva la Margeritas! – This is spot for a great time in downtown Pleasanton. Innventive gourmet Mexican fare, a tequila list as long as your leg and an amazing margarita list to match. Summer time dinning outside is a blast with a real Mariachi band on the weekends.
Fantastic! – Recently 4 couples of us went from Arizona to California for a vacation. We arrived in Pleasanton and happened upon a Tequila Tasting Dinner at the Blue Agave Club. Never have we had a better Mexican Dinner. The food, service and ambiance were all fantastic. We can hardly wait to return.
Terrific! – What a delight! The food was great, the service couldn't have been better, and the margaritas--the best I've ever had.
