I didn't enjoy the Teddy Pendergrass story... I left during the intermission... the young man playing Teddy didn't have the voice or sound.

The magnificence of the building inside and out is only outdone by the performances of the artists who tell the story!

The Black Ensemble Theater is my #1 place to go when in Chicago. When I moved to Dallas in 1985, I had no idea it would become such a jewel. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming! Had the opportunity to see the preview show Friday, for "I Am Who I Am; The Story of Teddy Pendergrass." Wow, what a show! Kudos to Ms. Jackie Taylor, Director Daryl Brooks and the extremely talented cast. Rashawn Thompson and Deverin Deonte as Teddy were OUTSTANDING.
