I live close, and it's my favorite place to stop and grab a coffee, beer, or sandwich. I love the entire staff! It is a really relaxed, comfortable environment with delicious food and drinks.
This is my go-to coffee shop in Emeryville. The brew is quite flavorful, and the owner (Dave) is a delight. He even makes homemade jerky treats for my pup! PRO TIP >> Order the egg & cheese bagel w/ cream cheese. It will change your life (or at minimum, make your mornings a lot more pleasant).
