He doesn't listen very well. I had a simple problem that will now be a life long medical condition for me.
I've been a patient with Dr. Bishop for 2 years. I've seen him 5 times. The office staff is friendly. Dr. Bishop always listens and makes me feel comfortable. I've had about 6 GPs in my life and he ranks at the top! I also realize at times I have to be seen by a PA on routine visits as The Dr. can get backed up.
After several years of happy service from Dr. Bishop, I was handed over to a Nurse Practitioner, who asked me the same questions over and over , and never read my notes, after 3 times requesting I only be seen by Dr. Bishop, I was told that new patients were more important than me and using the Nurse Practitioner was "the way things are going to be". It was good to have Dr. Bishop tell me personally over the phone that I was unimportant to him.
Very accommodating, friendly. He is now my primary care doctor.
Dr. Bishop a always takes the time to answer all of my questions
Beware! It appears from reading the reviews that he is very quick to dismiss patients from his practice. It happened to me as well. I had been a patient for over twelve years, never missed an appointment, never late for an appointment, always paid what I owed. Truthfully, I was dismissed over a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding that could have been avoided if he had listened and noted our conversations. Instead, he relies on a “scribe” sitting in a corner during the appointment, not ideal!
After seeing him for multiple years and asking for specific lab work for my thyroid he refused again after my gyno found my thyroid enlarged and ordered an ultrasound, it is in fact enlarged. He ordered basic tests and refused to refer me to an endocrinologist. He told me that I would need to find another physician. Made a referral for an ENT "only because my gynecologist insits" he said and then stormed out of the room. He also stormed out on my mother about a year ago for questioning him.
I was transferred to Dr Bishop's care when my long-term primary care physician left the practice. I asked for an appointment with the Dr in order to meet him and change prescriptions over to his name. I was told I did not need to do this, but was given an appointment anyway. At all appointments I have had with Dr Bishop, I have waited in the exam rooms for a much longer time than with my previous dr, then once he was in the room, he never looked me in the eye, gave me any sort of physical exam,
My husband & I have been patients of Dr. B's for about 12 years. He & his staff are SUPERB. They actually listen to us & take our concerns seriously. We have never had a complaint with either his ability, knowledge, or the person he is. He has always taken concern & care for us above and beyond what any doctor I've had in my lifetime. We've always been treated with kindness and respect. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
