when will they be sending out the photos you can purchase? I think it is time that BikeNY acknowledges how disapointed the bikers are, and that we pay way too much good $ to be abused. Let us have the package sent to us- and for the sloppy job this year by walking more than riding. Also Bike NY should cover the cost of a free photo to all bikers. For God's Sake, act like you care, and that you appreciate the money we bring in on one day, and stop bleeding us with a 2nd day...
The "bad experience" posted below partly reflects the fact that the "Tour" allows ANY biker to sign up from age 7 to 80. Many riders move at different speeds. Therefore, congestion in the latter part of day is a natural consequence. I don't have an easy answer, and I have experienced the same experience-ruining frustration of walking more than riding some years but identification of the CORE problem is the first step to a meaningful solution. This has been the best ride! Congrats to the organizers and the volunteers.
This was my 4th time, the Ride is a great event BUT it needs to change the way Rider Packs are distributed. The 90.00 cost should include having it mailed. Merchandise should be sold on-line way before, not a day or two day before the ride. AND Way Way Way too much stopping and dismounting during the day. It took 8 hours to do the entire ride and get back to lower Manhattan. Its my last time unless changes are made.
Great Five Boro this year; like that you've gone green; and great that you teach kids to ride.
