About this business

This is home-style Southern cooking in its purest form. Some breakfast items include the thickest biscuits coupled with the finest sausage gravy and plate-sized pancakes, while some others like the Fried Cajun Chicken Breast and Fried Egg Burgers are a big hit with locals. If you come in for lunch and find barbecued chicken on the menu, you are in luck. Also,an added bonus is that this cozy eatery looks like the inside of a Southern kitchen, with pots, pans and other odd paraphernalia scattered for effect. Big Ed's only acce... read more

Big Ed's was excellent. The staff were extremely friendly, we hardly waited for our food, everything was priced fair and the eclectic nature makes you feel right at home!

This place has insanely good food and is responsible for at least 5 pounds on me since moving here last year. The sawmill gravy is stupid delicious.

Business response:

It was our 1st time eating here. Despite the mixed reviews and talk about the Confederate flag in which I didn't see but may have missed from the amount of people dining, I have a mixed review of Big Ed's. My husband ordered the pancakes - delicious and huge, corn beef hash-burnt and unpleasant to taste; I ordered catfish, eggs, and grits, with a side of city ham. My order took two times to get it right. Everything was good except the ham was dry. My daughter's order was fine except they mixed up her order as well. Her food ... read more

I happened to turn around and a man, I'm guessing the manager, happened to walk up as I was standing in line to pay. I mentioned it to him. He stated, "it has been there for ten years and will be there ten years from now," letting me know his intention or lack of attention to the sign. I guess he let me know that it wasn't coming down. I will neve... read more

Besides the food not being great, the confederate sign beneath the cash register which read, "PARKING FOR CONFEDERATE ONLY...ALL OTHERS GO BACK NORTH, " really was even less palatable. When I mentioned my dismay at this sign, the cashier ignored me and merely smiled. So for those of you who want to go back to the good ol' days where white was right & Black get back, this is the place for you. A lot of our legislators frequent this place. Yes indeedy sweetie, considering the state of our affairs in this good old boy capital o... read more
