Passed through Charleston yesterday and bought 3 lbs of brisket an 2 bottles of sauce to take to Tallahassee, FL. I'd do it again tomorrow!
I love the cheeseburger basket and is what I always get, my boyfriend and I went recently, his first time and he loved it. He got the brisket sandwich basket which was phenomenal! We will cut our sandwiches in half and share next time. Best of both worlds!!

This is the BBQ of my childhood ... so it's the BBQ I compare all other BBQ against. I've eaten a lot of BBQ, but none that comes close to Bessingers. I live in NC now, but every trip to Charleston has to include a stop at Bessingers for a little Joe pork basket! Thanks for making great BBQ for so many years!
Took the family to Bessinger's Monday night, Sept. 19th for dinner. Paid $77.00 for sandwiches, fries and onion rings. The sandwiches were very good, but everyone's fries were limp and greasy. The onion rings, which are usually the highlight of the meal, were about the worst any of us have ever had. Not a single one of us were able to finish a whole onion ring. When you bit into one, the grease literally ran down your face. High prices and not high quality food do not equal a return visit.
