History Established in 1974. Bert and Ernie's opened the original restaurant in Helena in July 1974 in the Iron Front Hotel building. Some sixteen years later, in May of 1990, Bert and Ernie's purchased and renovated the old Globe Clothing Store building, packed up and moved down the street.
