Dr. Bernstein has an excellent reputation and my lawyer specifically requested him. He said he is the best in the area. I agree. The evaluation was long and intense but I felt I had a chance to say everything I needed to say. While I didn't receive everything I asked for, I now understand he was considering what is best for my child. I hope to never have to see him again because of the reason behind the evaluation, but if I needed another one, I would use him again.
Did not gather adequate information. Did not make adequate effort to call the professionals he said he would to include their input. Jumped to inaccurate conclusions during a custody evaluation. Easily manipulated. Difficulty identifying signs of trauma in children. Not as familiar with childhood mental health issues as one would expect and drew inaccurate conclusions. Seems to have difficulty determining when it's "parents in a high conflict divorce" vs. "child abuse." Long wait to schedule.
I appreciate Dr. Bernstein's hard work. He evaluated my granddaughter during a difficult time and told us how to best help her. He was able to send a report to the judge that explained what she needed. He has two offices which made it easy for us to get to and my grandaughter liked his toys. I would go to him again. Thanks Dr. Bernstein.
I'm surprised at the negative reviews. My attorney said Dr. Bernstein is highly recommended. I did not get the full custody I wanted but consider him to be fair and focused on what is best for the kids. He took his time during our appointments, answered my questions, and has a professional office. I guess if he doesn't give you what you want, you might get upset which is probably what happened with the bad reviews. I trust my attorney and liked Dr. Bernstein. I would use him again.
This "doctor" is a thief, a liar and has zero common sense. His ability to make a decision that focus on the best interests of a child is non-existent. Never in my life have I witnessed such unprofessionalism on the part of a person in the medical profession. He will take your money and do NOTHING for you. For the sake of the child involved, if you are referred to him, request another psychologist.
Dr.Bernstein is not professional, his office is just two rooms and he has know one else working in his office. He is the only doctor that I ever heard of that does not except any insurance. I know his website says Blue Cross and Blue Shield but it also says to verify and he wouldn't let me use my insurance. Next it is 2018 and he is using a cell phone mailbox to answer his phone calls, no receptionist no appointment cards and no receipts. He is a waste of your time and money. Would not recommend
The doctor acted goofy. He was just playing a mind game so he could get paid & honestly I'd like to know the results of his mental health evaluation.
