Our mother stayed for 6 weeks in Belmont's memory care. She had been in another care center in another city for 10 years where her experience was outstanding. Belmont in Encino was a sharp contrast. At Belmont the caregivers, who were hands on, were caring and gentle. However, the administrative staff was unresponsive and time after time did not follow through with their promises. The decision to place my mom in memory care (the "Neighborhood") was difficult. I felt guilty that she was not at home. I thought it was cruel to "put" her in care. I was wrong. My mom has nutritious meals three times a day. At home her friendly caregiver gave her sugar constantly. My mom moves around in a safe environment. At home she refused to exercise. My mom has a group of pals that she sits with. At home she was isolated. I make it a point to stop by often to see my mom and she is happy. Yes - happy. It is the truth.
