I always thought Bellville was a sweet little place. Your recent article reveals the ugly secret within. Since I live in Cleveland, I can do nothing to relieve the sadness I feel as a result except to comment here that I hope to see the people of Bellville speak out against the impression this terrible little speech left behind.

Like many others, I wish I could give a lower number. The owner of this paper owes the good citizens of Bellville an apology, the editor and reporter of this KKK article should be fired, Ackerman should resign, and the Historical Society should disband in embarrassment.

There's really nothing that i can say about the recent article glamorizing the KKK that hasn't already been said. Absolutely awful.
I haven't been able to figure out how this entire story went so wrong. I'd like to find out from someone who was there how the meeting with the Bellville Historical Society went. Did Fritz actually present this material without any alternative versions of the history of the KKK? Was there more to it than reported? Unbelievable, disgraceful, distasteful, and embarrassing! I grew up in Butler and that is also where I have raised my children and I am completely disgusted by this. Shame on you, Bellville Star for even approving such article and shame on Fritz Ackerman for presenting such rubbish!
Publishing a factually inaccurate editorial on the KKK is racist, problematic, and a gross misuse of any kind of media. Y'all should be ashamed.
