Established in 1795, The Bell in Hand Tavern has the distinction of being the oldest continuously-operating tavern in America. This bi-level restaurant and bar features nightly live music and karaoke Tuesdays for added entertainment. The uniquely designed rooms have a character of its own and are used for private as well as corporate functions. The pub has a impressive list of draft as well as bottle beers apart from cocktail specials. Nosh on the tasty American fare along with your choice drink while listening to some music... read more

Rude to Customers – My wife and I, from San Diego, stopped in to have a drink and listen to some live music as part of our 25th anniversary. We arrived 2 hours early to get some bar seats close to the band. The bar tenders were all made aware of our intentions. Ten minutes after the band started with food and drink still on the bar, we were rudely removed from our seats. After speaking to the manager to plead our case, he threatened to call the police and throw us out. We’re both urban professionals and we were very polite, ... read more
Staff gives rudeness a bad name – Not a bad place but the staff is REALLY RUDE. This is NOT a good service for $8 beers. I mean where did they get those characters. Bartender (Heather?), one of the security fellas (Michael), the manager (Jeff?) will probably score the top 3 of "the rudest staff in Boston" competition. My advice is to check this place out but not after 6PM - otherwise you may be in for quite an unpleasant experience. DO NOT GO THERE WITH A DATE, at all.
Best Karaoke Tuesdays! – Drinks are always on point! Usually a decent amount of people who love to come out on Tuesdays and hang out at this great bar to hear people belt out some tunes! Not your average Karaoke bar where the older drunk people love to go sing...you have a young fresh crowd who definitely love to have a good time. The DJ is awesome always giving everyone a fair chance to show off on stage. Great on weekends too! LOVE THIS PLACE!
THE BELL N HAND TAVERN IS THE BEST BAR IN THE UNITES STATES – I HAVE BEEN TO THE BELL N HAND TAVERN SO MANY TIMES...THE FOOD IS EXCELLENT ....THE CROWD IS VERY FRIENDLY...IT IS SUCH A GREAT SOCIAL SCENE....THE STAFF IS FRIENDLY....THE PRICE ARE EXCELLENT....THE BANDS ARE VERY TALENTED....AND THE BELL N HAND TAVERN IS THE BEST BAR EVERY NIGHT OF THE WEEK.....IF YOU ARE SINGLE IT IS THE BEST PLACE TO MEET MEN .I EVEN COME IN FOR LUNCH ALOT AND IT IS VERY WELL PRICED.....I VOTE THE BELL N HAND TAVERN THE BEST BAR IN BOSTON
Cool Place – This seems like a very nice and unique place. There's definetely history behind it. I know it's a pretty awesome place to go on the weekends as well. Check it out.
Tusday Nights at the Bell are a great time! – I have been going to the Bell in Hand for karaoke for a while now. I always have a great time. The song selection is superb. There must be over 50,000 karaoke songs to choose from. The stage is great with bright lights and the song words projected on a screen behind you. The karaoke DJ is very friendly and professional. He has a great sound system. You can hear your self sing unlike other venues I have sang at. I think the Bell In Hand is the best spot to be whether you sing or n... read more
Quincy Market's oldest bar is a crowded meat market where you're sure to see a fight, drunken hookup or uninspired cover band. – In Short The Bell in Hand may date back to the 1795, but it seems to be stuck in the 90s. Testosterone-fueled youngsters shout on the local teams to victory while groups of girls pick out who's cute and sip sweet martinis. A handful of bouncers, amped on Red Bull and wary of the many meatheads present, keep the peace (albeit barely). Nondescript bar food, fried and carbo-licious, also helps slow th... read more
Really great, different bar – This place is great. You only pay one cover charge to get in (between 5 and 10 bucks), but it's like being in 3 different bars at once. Right when you walk in they have a very casual low-key sports bar like hang out spot where most of the older crowd hang out for a beer. When you walk around the corner, you're in the most populated spot of the bar, which is a large downstairs area where the live bands play. This is mostly college kids. It's a great spot to people watch and meet people. When you ... read more
Ok crowd - Awful DJ – Honestly - Not a bad bar. If you're up for a good time and don't mind the pub appeal, this place is fine. Good to decent bands downstairs but the DJ upstairs stinks. This bar caters to both bands (downstairs) and DJ's (upstairs) so maybe they should consider using a "real" DJ not a KARAOKE one. FYI dude...No one cares who sings the songs you're playing! Stop announcing the artist!
