Went for Restaurant Week and had a really enjoyable experience. I started with the vitello tonnato with roasted veal, which was delicious. I especially loved the dehydrated capers and white anchovies on the plate — great touches that added texture and flavor to the dish. For the main course, I had the pork cheeks with polenta. Chef Bart took such wonderful care of us for our 15th wedding anniversary. He attended our table personally, chose an outstanding wine and served the best rabbit and steak we've ever had. Outstanding job Chef Bart!
It seems like a great spot in general, and I would like to try it again. However our first visit was less than stellar. My Belgian waffle was extremely hard, like it had been left to sit out. I attempted to eat it but it cut the roof of my mouth so I stopped myself. Our server seemed sweet but wasn’t very attentive. Everything about the Belga Cafe in the Capitol Hill neighborhood is 5 star. My husband and I enjoyed lunch with our grandson and we each experienced a delicious meal. I have to mention the dessert, as well . . . the incredible Belgian Dame blanche. Vanilla ice cream topped with an incredible chocolate sauce & whipped cream. Magnifique!
