Karen Blockman Carrier has yet another chic creation to boast of now that her third restaurant, The Beauty Shop has opened. True to its name, the decor of the place is reminiscent of a '40s beauty salon. If you are tired of the same old vegan items offered in restaurants, then head here for a pleasant change (the Thai Cobb deserves a special mention). The menu features contemporary global cuisine and is seasonal, non-vegetarian items are on offer too.

"Beauti"ful dining experience The Beauty Shop is a salon-turned-restaurant. The waiter even told me that the Presley women used to come to the establishment when it served up hair styles instead of high-end meals. The food is "New American" with dishes inspired from around the world. As an appetizer, I really like the game hen, and for an entree, the swordfish is prime. However, you can expect to spend quite a bit for the fine food and local. But keep in mind, this place is for the chic. Make reservations, and come ready to ... read more
Such a fun quirky vibe with delicious food. Wait staff was super friendly and made some great recommendations. Fun place for a group of girlfriends!
Their Sunday brunch is fantastic! I little bit expensive but worth every penny as far as I'm concerned. They're eggs are always fluffy and amazing and I highly recommend the challah french toast. Everything I've had there has been delicious and I appreciate the diversity in the menu. Others comment on the small portion sizes but that has never been my experience during brunch. Oh, and did I mention the fresh squeezed orange juice mimosas?! To die for!
My sister and I went here about the middle of May 2009 and the food was great. It was a bit pricey. We shared an appetizer, and we both had the lamb for entrees and then shared a desert for $78. The lamb was delicious, it just melted in my mouth and they were huge portions! I don't know where they got those lamb chops from but they were huge. May not have been lamb since they were so large. May have been mutton, but whatever they were they were delicious. And they were served on a bed of mashed potatoes.

Insultingly Small Portions for Obscenely High Prices - Go Somewhere Else – The ambiance and service are nice, but the food is offensive: Insultingly small portions for obscenely high prices. We spent $180 on dinner for 4 (which only included 3 glasses of wine), and we all went home hungry. We got a $9 cheese plate with two slices of cheese an four crackers on it, a $26 fish dish that couldn''t have had more than 1/4 pound of seafood on it (and nothing else -- no vegetables ... they don't even give you bread). The food tastes... read more
