Great service, great conversation. – The Beatnik Barber is an all-around good guy who just happens to kick ass at his trade. He runs this shop with passion, good humor, and a sense of pride and commitment to the community. Also, he has a memory like a steel trap... after being out of the country and out of touch for 2-1/2 years, I stopped in at the shop to say hi, and Pete chatted me up as if I'd never missed a two-week touchup in the interim. I recommend The Beatnik Barber without reservation. Your hair has found a new home... read more
The Beatnik Barbershop..The BEST Military Regulation In TOWN – Out of the many Barbers I have tried over the years this one has beat all the others with their service. Clipper Cuts is what they do and they know how to do a great fade job or a military hight and tight and regulation haircut. Surrounding Music is awesome and price is low and it's pretty quick service. Pete is the best and always has a line but the other barbers are just as good. I would reccomend this shop to anyone needing a trim or a buzz!! You have my busin... read more
Dial-a-Cliche... – As a frequent visitor to Baltimore, I like to play patron to the local shops. My last visit over Christmas found me needing a haircut. I had passed the Beatnik Barber sign several times on previous trips and decided to walk in. Upon entering I greeted who I assume was the owner (black rimmed glasses, rockabilly type shirt) and said "hello" only to get a blank gaze and no response. I simply asked for a scissor over comb classic cut, which most any barber should be able to do. What normally would take at lea... read more
This place rocks – i've been in baltimore 3 months now, had a horrible experience at the haircuttery, drove out to FX a couple times, and they were pretty good, then finally got turned on to The Beatnik Barbershop. The haircut was awesome. the place has a great blend of classic and new, it;s definitely a barbershop, but it's not overly obsessed with being retro. they finished off the cut with a straight razor neck shaves (though they don't offer full face shaves, which stinks). Over all though, i've definitely found my new s... read more
cool people giving cool cuts – don't listen to the other muppets that have posted comments. i've been going there for 18 mo at least. after extensive searching for a haircutting establishment i've settled on this one. at $16 they've positioned themselves well in the market. here are your options: go to somewhere like 'Tenpachie' or 'Great Clips' and get a scare cut where your backside barely warms the seat, or spend $50+ at a saloon and put up with inane and vapid conversation with a teenaged salonist. i'm yet to have a coff... read more
B-Ware B-More – I had been to the Beatnik Barber once before and got a pretty decent haircut from a woman, I think her name is Annie. This time I went and thought I was lucky enough to get the owner, Pete, to cut my hair. How wrong I was. Not only did he not give me the cut I asked for, he messed up the cut he gave me. Bad fade and failure to trim over my ears- I might sound like a bit of a primadonna complaining about a barber, but here's the clincher.... Rule no.1 of cutting hair, don't cut the client! Pete's signature str... read more
owner very unprofessional – I would recommend against going on days when the owner (Pete) is working. In the year and half that I've been going to this place he's cut my hair 6 or so times and has really messed up the fade each time. Recently when I politely requested to wait for a different person to cut my hair he asked me to leave the shop. I've never once complained or made a scene when I've been unhappy with his work. In 20 some odd years of getting my hair cut almost weekly I don't think I've ever known a barber shop t... read more
