loved this place...saw more bears than our entire trip to Alaska. If you have a pet in the car, make sure it is under control. Our Maltese went berserk at the sight of the Mountain Goat, who promptly headbutted our jeep!

We went in mid- October early in the morning which was the absolute best time to go. Animals were really active and the kids enjoyed it. Would really recommend calling to see when feeding time is!

The free roaming bears and the baby animals are the best part but the gift shop is awsome too!

Totally worth the visit! Give yourself plenty of time to visit because there is a lot to see. I think we were there a couple of hours and we saw everything, but we felt like we could have stayed longer.

***DANGEROUS CONDITIONS *** ok i have to admit initially we loved it. We came on September 1, 2015 actually loved it (aside from the outrageous price) and decided we would come back before the end of our vacation. Came back on Sunday, September 6, 2015 in the exact same car, a convertible mustang (soft top apparently ) and were told by staff that we could not go thru in a soft top because it's too dangerous! Ok fine I can buy that. But why did you let us through on tuesday and while in there there was also a soft top yellow ... read more

My family loved Bear Country! It's great that these rescued bears have a safe home to live in, along with the rest of the animals at the refuge/park! We enjoyed seeing the animals up close, while they were in areas that seemed more natural than a conventional zoo. The baby area was a blast! Watching the baby bears play was a lot of fun for both my husband and I and our two young boys! Definitely another reason to come back to the black hills again!!
