Good and Quick Happened to pass this one (located on 869 S. Western Ave.) and decided to try it for dinner. Spacious and clean is first impression. Seating is quick (unless you get there during lunch/dinner peak hours) and service (drink/side dishes) was fast. Good straght forward menu (in Korean, Chinese, Japanese and English) with all the traditional soon tofu offerings. Soon tofu is pretty typical all around, personally, what makes a place stand out is their side dishes. BCD side dish offerings were a bit light--when comp... read more
User review by debbylynnweiner It's cheap, it's spicy, it's 24 hours and there is PARKING. Parking in K-Town, yes, you read right. The other food besides soon tofu is average-- but that's because soon tofu is the speciality. I'm addicted to this food-- it's a good lunch break food, a good late-night post-concert food (it's near the Wiltern), and a good quick dinner. I love the spicy soon tofu, but beware, spicy means Korean spicy, not wussy American "spicy" that I can't even taste. May want to start with medium spicy, or mil... read more
Korean Very very good food here. And it's open late so you can get bomb food after a late night out. The Tofu soup is the best! and the bimbim bop!
Decent, a little pricey Don't be fooled by the name, this is not a vegetarian restaurant. All the combo dishes do include a spicy tofu "soup," but the focus is on traditional Korean fare, many of which includes meat. Try the very tender BBQ beef, which practically melts in your mouth. They tend to be a little too oily, but it's still worth the price. Most everything falls around the $9 to $13 range here, so it's not the cheapest of places to go. But you do get lots of food and freebies. They do not serve alcohol here, which ... read more
delectable!~ try the dumpling soon tofu! and i love the dish where they add hot water to your stone bowl, for eating after your dinner course.
WORST MEAL OF MY LIFE! This is the nastiest excuse for food I have ever experienced. The food had NO flavor and was way too hot to eat. The atmosphere was not very pleasant. I realize this isn't supposed to be fine dining, but this is definately at the bottom of the fast food, chain restaurant barrel. I wouldn't go back if was the last place on earth. I don't even want to give it one star, but this website forces you to pick a rating
Great late-night spot For people who complain there are too few 24-hour places in Los Angeles, you only need to drive to Koreatown where everything is open late. BCD is great meal after partying. It's hot, healthy and cheap. Despite being a tofu house, I wouldn't recommend this place for vegatarians since most all Korean food, even veggies, is made with fish or shrimp paste.
Good for Beginners! This place has a predictable menu with good food and a great value. If you're new to Korean food, and would like to try out the cuisine, this is a good place to start. It's not pretentious, and it offers a very common menu with easily recognizable foods. You will not be intimated. It features mostly stews and soups, but its serves a good bbq as well.
This place is not what it's cracked up to be I went to BCD on Sat. after a night of clubbing and this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Now I know 24 hour Asian places are not known for wonderful service, but this night service was just horrible. They never brought us water and the tofu took forever! I think they forgot about our table because I saw at least three other tables that were seated after us get their food before us. I've really tried to like this place but I'd much rather go to Hodori or Denny's. Th... read more
