About this business

Located just inside the loop in the Galleria area, this restaurant is one of the best-kept secrets in Houston. A casual dining experience complete with televisions so you don't miss that important game. The menu here is wonderful. Spicy crab claws, gumbo and crab bisque are all great choices for appetizers. For an entree, try the Snapper Courtney. Be prepared as the entrees are very large and filling. Try to save room for the Key lime pie.

Swamp Water !! – Decided to try this place on 4/01/2012. (This was not an April fools joke). What a horrible mistake we made. The greeter seemed very depressed and unconcerned. She couldn't even muster a fake smile! I decided to order a the seafood gumbo and the frried calamari. My date chose the clackened catfish with baked potato. The gumbo reminded me of the black liquid that covered the Louisiana coast after the BP explosion. The roux was bitter, over seasoned and doused with chives and pieces of crab shells. The calamar... read more

Fantastic gumbo! I had lunch at Bayou City on a recent visit to Houston. Unlike the other reviewer, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and thought the service was excellent. We had a wonderful, attentive waiter. I ordered a Po' Boy and the chicken & sausage gumbo for an appetizer. FYI...the chicken & sausage gumbo can stand on its own, it's very filling and I took the Po' Boy to go.

Good Food – I don't totally agree with the person who wrote a review before me. You may have gone at the wrong time and got the wrong thing. I've been here many times and while I won't say their seafood is the best I've ever had, there are still really good. Try their fried catfish and shrimp next time.
