My family has been dealing with the Temple hospital and a colorectal surgeon there for 6 months. Tomorrow is his 5th surgery. I think all but the first could have been avoided. The nurses here are great. The clinic nurses do not always respond to the patient portal in a timely manner and the doctor NEVER responds to portal messages. Gave birth at this hospital for my very first pregnancy and here is my honest review for someone who had postpartum preeclampsia. OB unit - Loved my FNP, my OB didn’t deliver my baby but she was so reassuring every appointment. I’ve heard it’s hard to get a good OB but thankfully I had my referral in at the perfect time ! Didn’t feel like they pushed anything on me as far as medication, stayed true to my birth plan besides hiccup here and there. Labor unit- I had to advocate for myself A LOT!! I tried for 27 hours to get info on my brother who was brought in in Critical condition. His emergency contact was no longer valid. I tried explaining to them how the Hipaa law works but they would not listen. I left messages with the patient advocate and another office and spoke to their legal office who said they would look into it. Nope. After having to raise hell with them I finally got to speak to someone who knew what the law entails. I believe her name was Megan. Discharge process is a joke. Had surgery and got sent to the discharge lounge to sit in a “comfy recliner”. Didn’t get pain meds till I was getting in the wheelchair to go down. Arrived sobbing in pain and was told drinks are in the fridge you can get one by a nurse. No ask of what’s wrong or what I needed. Completely ignored by 2 nurses while I sobbed because I was told I would be made comfortable and that’s far from the truth. No offer of a pillow or blanket and I told my team before I was brought down I’d have to wait for... read more
