About this business
Bastas opened its doors in 1992 and has always taken advantage of our Northwest bounty . We use local organic produce, meats, forest ingredients as well as fish. All of our fresh pastas as well as sausages, pancetta, breads, desserts and infusions are made in house. We believe in supporting our local artisans, and even though our chairs are original (recycled) post modern, they were refurbished locally and the couches and tables were made only a few blocks away. I am Italian and I find very hard to eat Italian style food outside of my home. I typically make better pastas than in a regular restaurant. But the basta trattoria is a real Italian restaurant. So when I go there I relax because I know the pasta they serve is done in the current Italian fashion and I love it every time, especially home made noodles done as I would do them on my own, thank you Marco.
We had a lovely dinner here last night! Started with a drink at the bar to unwind. It was still happy hour so we got a bit of a break on the wine and cocktail. Then our table was ready and Shelby was our server. What a delight! Loved her personality and her service was great. The only worthwhile restaurant in the neighborhood. Basta is a special place. Good food, good lighting, good vibe.
Every time I go there the food is fantastic. Great atmosphere, friendly service and wonderful prices. One of my favorites in Portland. Thank you!
Terrible place. Horrible service and stay away from some asshole named Richard! Good lord! Angry little server with an attitude! Not a good one!
