Pre surgery visit. Seems confident, answered all my questions.
Dr. Chan has operated on me twice. First was in 2004 for aortic valve. Everything went very smooth. After 14 years (2018) the valve needed to be replaced and my doctor found that he had moved to Rockhill SC. He did my second surgery, everything went so smooth, this guy is one of the most personal doctors I have ever met. He was so good to me and my family. His staff is just as good. Piedmont Medical Center is lucky they have him. Recovery staff at Piedmont was fantastic! I owe my life to him twice. What a great guy. It has b... read more
Dr. Chan literally saved my life. His expertise and qualifications are impeccable. I would highly recommend him to anyone. His caring personality and chair side manner puts him in the top percent of all surgeons. I could have gone to any surgeon in the world and I picked Dr. Chan: and, I am very glad I did. Plus, he is at Piedmont hospital in Fort Mill and I traveled from Charlotte: again the care and service at the hospital was fantastic. I highly recommend Dr. Chan and Piedmont. Dr. Jack Burrow
I had to have open heart surgery to replace a very stenotic bicuspid aortic valve. Dr Chan put me at ease and let me know what all to expect. He is a fantastic, caring and compassionate cardiac surgeon!!!
Business response:
Thank you for the kind words! We think Dr. Chan is pretty remarkable, too. - Novant Health Social Response Team
Dr. Chan performed emergency open heart surgery on my husband last month. He arrived within minutes, and calmly explained the surgery to me. He was kind and forthright in the risks and benefits of the surgery. He updated me as promised after he completed the surgery. Partners from his practice made follow up rounds. Unfortunately we have been notified that he has left his practice at Novant effective August 2017. Laurie the Cardiac Navigator is still with the Novant practice and is awesome.
You cannot find a more skilled and professional cardiac surgeon. I recently faced open-heart surgery for replacement of a defective aortic valve and dilated aortic arch. Facing a 7-8 hour surgery and the potential life-threatening procedures that surround it is, at least, unsettling. But Dr. Chan's detailed explanation of the process; his calm, reassuring manner, expertise and confidence were very calming. The surgery was a total success. I highly recommend him & his equally experienced staff.
Dr. Chan's easy and kind manner will help you feel at ease with you're upcoming procedure. I decided to comment on this site after looking for a different kind of doc for a sports injury. Dr. Chan fixed a faulty valve that I must have had since birth and didn't realize it. At first I was unhappy with my incision line but now a year later is almost gone. His sidekick, Laurie will help you thru each step. Luckily mine was successful and I have new vitality!
