Shout out to Mrs. Barrett for her nomination of the Kentucky Coffee Tree for the 2019 Montine McDaniel Freeman Medal. This award is given annually by The Garden Club of America to bring recognition to outstanding native plant species for North American gardens. While the Kentucky Coffee Tree did not win the award, it was given an honorable mention.
