Family Time Great food. Great people. Perfect place to go for a family night out. Service is quick with great environment. Would probably go again with friends.
Elegant Hotel Dining Philanders is located in the Carleton Hotel in Oak Park. The room is dimly light and has a somewhat outdated decor. The service is friendly and attentive. The food here is wonderful, especially the salads and the lobster bisque. Main courses can be quite pricey and have been disappointing. Stick to the better and more affordable small plates.
5 stars! – Everything on the menue is great! You can't go wrong at Barclays. I would recomend the white fish and ribs. Save room for desert. The waitstaff and management team makes you feel like family. I have sent many friends to this place for the food!
It Could Be So Much Better – With the aid of a $10 off coupon, we ventured over to the new Barclay's--wish it were still the old Philanders. This restaurant pretends to be a Champps, but can't even deliver a decent flatbread pizza. I ordered the Italian sausage/banana pepper flatbread, which made my eyes water it had so many peppers! The fried calamari appetizer was soggy and even the cocktail dipping sauce had a spare slice of tomato at the bottom of the dish. Did the cook just miss the trashcan?
