About this business

Bamiyan is named in honor of the Buddhas of Bamiyan, two enormous statues carved into sandstone cliffs in the central Afghan town of Bamiyan, on the ancient Silk Road that linked East Asia with Europe. The famous road provided a trade thoroughfare that introduced spices and food traditions across continents and cultures. The restaurant features Afghan and Persian selections. The service is professional, with servers taking the time to explain dishes and seasonings. American palates will find Bamiyan's delightful food subtly ... read more

bamiyan; horrid service and uninspiring food – The food was bland, my lamb was dry and overcooked. The price seemed excessive for rather small portions. The service was far and beyond the worst I have ever experienced. When I arrived I had a wait to be seated while the waiter took a personal phone call. When I complained that my lamb was bland I was told I simply didn

Good Food, Good Service – I'll have to admit I've never had Persian or Afghani food before so I was skeptical. When we went we asked the waiter for suggestions and he was very helpful. Even with allergy issues, he was able to point out the things that we should avoid and suggested asking for certain sauces on the side. All the dishes we had were excellent and I wish I had left room for dessert. If you're looking for something different, give this place a try.

Best Kebab around here – We've been going to Bamiyan frequently since it opened. My husband and I both love Persian and Afghani food, so this is a natural for us. The Afghani Kebabs are particularly good, as is the Aush soup. I find it amazing that so many are complaining about the service. We've found the service to be absolutely perfect. Maybe that's because we're relatively regular. The owner is very friendly and very quick. When he's not around, his backup is a bit less sure of what they're doing, but, still, always kind... read more

AWFUL - you'll feel ripped off! – My husband and I only ventured out to this place because of a coupon in our Entertainment book. There were only 2 or 4 other diners in the restaurant, but it took at least a half hour to get our orders to the table, and when they arrived they were very, very cold. We would have sent them back but our waiter was no where to be seen. The portions were small, mine was badly over seasoned and included the MOST stale bread I've ever been served, and they had significantly raised their prices from... read more

Delicious, nice 'stay-cation' from our regular food haunts! – We don't venture out to the 'Quah very often (typically head into Redmond), but found this restaurant that has TWO menus featuring middle eastern food choices. The staff (the owner helped us pick out our meal, as we hadn't tried this type of food before) was super friendly and attentive, the portions were huge (if you like that sort of thing), and the dishes were delish! Fun departure from the regular food we grab in Redmond - a nice 'stay-cation' for dinner! Will... read more

Nice setting spoiled by very inept service! – I agree with the previous 2 posts that the service is just plain weird and inexplicably delayed. My girlfriend and I went couple of months ago around 7 pm and there were just another couple seated. For no apparent or stated reason we had to wait unusually long to get served. On a culinary note, the lamb shank we ordered was excellent but for the very big pouring of marinara sauce on top. It made no sense that a whole bunch of semi-sweet (and somewhat spicy) sauce was poured all o... read more

Worst Customer Service – My husband and I went to this place last weekend for lunch. There was only one waiter and he greeted us with no enthusiasm. Later when we asked for warm water (as it was a very cold day), he literally brought the cup of water and slamed it over the table. We were shocked by his gesture. Then finally we ordered the main dish. He never offered us any help with the selection and was always having attitude when talking to us. We had to wait for more than 30 mts for the dishes to arrive. Then he disappear... read more

Bad Customer Service and Long Wait – Our family of four including two youngsters went to Bamiyan for an early dinner on a Sunday. The waiter / owner greeted us with dis-interest. That should've been a good sign that he wasn't interested in our business. After waiting for 10 minutes, we were served water and then another 5 minutes later he took our order with an attitude - don't know if it was because we were planning on sharing our appetizers and entrees since our kids don't eat that much. After waiting 30 minutes, we finall... read more
