This man is a disgusting crook. We were mislead that this guy operates a business but then realized he may have a few gigs to make him appear credible but must do this to be able to book other events and run with his customers' deposits. DO NOT TRUST HIM. He stole our deposit of $425. At the beginning of the process... He was very quick and prompted us numerous times to hurry and submit the deposit before he leaves for Vegas. My wife and I both had the two meat combo for $16.95 apiece. Unfortunately, it was later in the day and the meat was really dry, most of it not worth eating. The cook obviously knew it wasn't up to par and drenched in bbq sauce to try to make up for the dryness. I guess we should have known when we had to wait 25 minutes for the meal. We could have gotten 6 tacos at Jack in the Box and had a better meal and save 30 bucks.

Please be careful before you sign a contract with Matthew Mugica with Backyard Barbecue & Catering. I've left several voice messages, sent texts and emails to Mathew to reschedule an event but he will not even respond back to me. Now I would like a refund of $700+ but that request is going unanswered also. Any suggestions?

Our family in good faith signed a contract and more importantly shook hands and planned a great bar-b-que event. We had to change the date and that is when we discovered this is not a business to plan any events with in the future. Matthew will not return calls or emails. After he has your money he disappears. I am planning legal action to get my deposit back. Beware of this business.

I met up with Matthew about 5 months ago to get a quote about catering for our wedding. We met up at a local Starbucks and he came unorganized. He had the wrong items and prices. We went over everything and decided on a set menu and a price. I gave him a $700 deposit and he tells me to call him about a week prior to the event to give him the final count.
