The wife and I are staying at the Marriott 2 minutes away on the "boardwalk". Sat on the deck overlooking the water. The service was excellent and attentive. We started with the crab dip (with a secret, homemade Creole spice)...best I've ever had. It was warm out, so I went with the wedge salad/grilled salmon. Very good. Finished with the caramel apple pie ala mode. Very laid back place, good prices, great service. Can't go wrong here. Will be back before we leave.

Great food and service
First time to Backwaters on Sand Key, and will definitely be back. The food, the service, staff and atmosphere was so nice and relaxed.
I've lived in the area for a long time and have never eaten here. My bad. What an awesome place. The atmosphere, the food, the servers and hostess, just fabulous. The oysters were big and delicious. The scallops were out of this world as were the hog fish and shrimp. Great portions and very tasty. Thank you to Max, our server who was on top of everything and fun. And thank you Chef Paul. Will definitely be back.
Awesome Menu For Years!
So far, the service is very slow.
While I enjoyed my crab cakes, I found the price a bit high and our server extremely slow and not attentive. I was very obvious he had a repeat customer or friend he was serving as he spent a lot of time chatting with that table of four. This was on the patio about 7pmish on June 20th. Poor service!
